How to choose the color temperature of your LED lighting
Our website www.masonleds.com contains hundreds of different LED lights. In all products, you can choose the same light with different color temperatures. Some products also include a controller that allows you to change the color tone depending on the situation. Why?
The color temperature of LED lamps is not something that is completely self-evident to all of us. Different temperatures, hues, color rendering values, or Kelvins can easily confuse you, making choosing a lamp unnecessarily difficult. However, it is simpler than you might think. The process of choosing the right lamp does not have to be a nerve-wracking operation requiring a Master of Electrical Engineering degree.
What the hell are Kelvins and color temperature?
The color temperature of LED light is most often measured in Kelvin. The unit K refers to the perceived color tone of the light. Simply put, the higher the Kelvin value of the light, the brighter and bluer it appears to the human eye. In nature, shades occur between about 2000-11,000K. The color temperature of the red of an early sunrise is about 2000K, and the color tone of the blue sky at noon is about 10,000K. The most familiar everyday color temperatures are 3000K, which corresponds to about a 100W halogen lamp, and 2800K, the yellow, warm light of an older incandescent lamp.

How do you find the right color shade?
When choosing a color temperature, there are many things to consider. What kind of atmosphere do you want for the room/space? Is the room a place to sleep or do work that requires precision? The biggest factor, of course, is the home’s interior and the materials you choose.
Warm white 3000K
If you have chosen a room or space with a lot of natural materials, such as wood, stone, and warmer tones, the right color temperature for your home may be to choose a cozy, naturally soft white of 3000K.
Bright white 4000K
It is entirely a matter of taste whether to choose 3000K or 4000K color temperature lighting for a space. 4000 Kelvin is a good general light with a bright and pure white color. 4000K color lamps are recommended if you like strong lighting or an energetic atmosphere. 4000K LED lamps go particularly well with Scandinavian modern interiors, which combine light wood tones with white and gray. The clean and bright color temperature is an increasingly popular option today, especially among the younger generation.
5500K daylight
According to research, shades that imitate bluish daylight also support a person’s natural circadian rhythm thanks to their invigorating effect, with a temperature of up to 5500K. With daylight lamps, you also get a glow of purity and energy.
Can color shades be combined?
Combining warmer colors with cooler colors is certainly not forbidden. You can choose warmer or cooler colors for different rooms in your home, depending on the mood or the purpose of the room. However, for a consistent look, it is recommended to use the same color throughout the house.
A good option is also to set the washroom and sauna to 3000K and the rest of the house to 4000K. Also, use a uniform color for all lighting. Exterior and interior lighting can be different colors.
You can create an atmosphere with both colors by reducing the lighting. A dimmer is a really good solution for this. Using several different light groups also provides a nice variation in lighting power.
